A few years ago, a speech I was listening to, I think it was a military officer at some function or other, possibly one of several Memorial or Veterans Days at the 45th Infantry Division Museum, a comparison was given that helps bring into conception the enormity of the Allied landings at Normandy that took place 63 years ago.

Imagine transporting the entire populations, men women and children, and every vehicle, of Oshkosh, Green Bay and Eau Claire, Wisconsin across Lake Michigan to Muskeegon, Michigan.

Just think about that and compare that kind of effort to anything we are, or have been engaged in since.
